Terramundi Money Pots
These attractive Etruscan money pots are hand thrown on a wheel by a small family run pottery in Umbria in Italy, where they have been used for over 2000 years and their design has remained unchanged.
The tradition with a Terramundi pot is that every time you have a new one, you write down a wish and put that in with your first coin. When the pot is full, you can simply smash the pot. However, the best way to break your money pot is to get a chisel and place it inside the money slot - slowly lever the top and you should be able to pop the top off - you can now use the money pots to house a plant, sweets or pens.
The handmade and hand painted terracotta money pots come complete with a fortune coin already inside, a neck tag explaining the 2000 year history of saving coins in this way and a little desire card to pop in your pot with the date you start saving and exactly what you hope to buy with the cash. Terramundi Pots make a perfect and thoughtful gift.
